Orion Genomics Named a Top 50 Company by Deloitte & Touche and the St. Louis RCGA

ST. LOUIS, MO December 08, 2004 - Orion Genomics, a "Second Code" biotechnology company, was named one of Greater St. Louis' Top 50 companies by Deloitte & Touche and the St. Louis Regional Chamber and Growth Association for the third consecutive year. Orion was selected based on the company's significant contributions to the St. Louis region through the advancement of its cancer diagnostics program and commercialization of its genome analysis services. The awards, which recognize the region's Top 50 companies across all industries, were announced at a dinner at the St. Louis Science Center Tuesday.

In recognition of the award, Orion was profiled in the December 2004 issue of St. Louis Commerce Magazine (http://www.stlcommercemagazine.com). The profile discusses Orion's proprietary technologies, which leverage DNA's epigenetic code for the development of cancer diagnostic products and efficient and comprehensive gene and trait discovery in important agricultural crops.

"We are very pleased to have been selected as one of St. Louis' top companies. Through our growing partnerships with academic, international and industry partners, Orion's Molecular Diagnostic Business Unit is making significant strides in the development of novel molecular diagnostics that will provide earlier detection of cancer and aid in therapy selection," said Nathan Lakey, President and CEO of Orion Genomics. "Our Genome Analysis Service Business Unit is already making an important impact on the improvement of agricultural yields and advancing understanding of plant genomes through the application of our proprietary technologies."
