Staff Scientist - Molecular Diagnostics and Genomics Unit

Orion Genomics, LLC announces a Staff Scientist position available in the Molecular Diagnostics and Genomics units. Orion Genomics develops and applies cutting-edge genomic and epigenomic technologies for cancer diagnosis, prognosis and risk detection. The lead product is a blood based test for the detection of loss of imprinting of the IGF2 gene. This product will be used to predict the risk of developing colorectal cancer and identify individuals who will benefit from early colorectal cancer screening strategies. Successful candidates will apply their experience and expertise in molecular biology, bioinformatics and/or next-generation genomics to research programs leading to the development and regulatory approval of molecular diagnostic assays. In addition, the candidate will focus on programs of discovery and development of novel,powerful biomarkers for various clinical applications.

Qualifications

  • PhD or MD/PhD in the biological sciences
  • Broad knowledge of targets and pathways involved in tumorigenesis and tumor progression
  • Strong technical background in molecular biology, high-throughput screening, next-generation sequencing platforms, rare transcript detection, allele-specific gene expression, and/or molecular assay development and automation
  • Exceptional oral and written communication skills
  • Demonstration of successful project management and scientific leadership
  • Ability and strong motivation to thrive in a team environment
  • Experience in analysis, interpretation and presentation of large-scale datasets including, but not limited to , microarray experimental data, next-generation sequencing data and/or HTS data is preferred
  • Strong bioinformatics and/or LIMS skills are preferred
  • Experience in or in-depth knowledge of the FDA regulatory process is a plus
  • Experience in management of large-scale clinical trials is a plus

Research Associate Scientist III - Molecular Diagnostics and Genomics Unit

Research Associate Scientist III sought by Orion Genomics (St. Louis, MO) with expertise in next-generation genome sequencing technologies, biomarker discovery/validation and development of molecular diagnostic assays. Minimum requirements include a Master's of Science in Physics or related Biological Science and 3 years relevant molecular biology experience including: cDNA, BAC, fosmid, Solexa & 454 Life Sciences library construction (including direct training of others); analysis & bioinformatics (BLAST, Ensembl, UCSC & NCBI tools, CONSED, LIMS, Pascal, LABVIEW, Perl, Java, UNIX); strong technical background in lab automation and instrument calibration, inspection and validation; experience managing patient info & large scale clinical datasets.
